ILC
Visit
On May 3, we are organising our 5th ILC Visit.
Previous visits have been to Mezyad School (Al Ain), ZU (Abu Dhabi), ZU (Dubai)
and HCT-SMC. This time the visit will be to the new ILCs on the Men's and Women's
Campuses of UGRU, UAEU, Al Ain. LI-SIG Co-Chair, Mairi Thomas (ILC Coordinator,
UAEU) is organising the event in conjunction with Dan Blackman and Karen Campbell
(ILC Coordinators, UAEU).
Participants will meet at the Men's Campus at 2pm
for a tour, and then transfer to the Women's Campus for an investigation of the
ILC there. This is a unique opportunity to access the Women's ILC due to prevailing
security restrictions
Heather is looking forward to the visit enormously as
in a previous life she was the ILC Chair on the Women's Campus in the days before
independent learning gained its rightful place as central to the learning process
- so she can't wait to see the new facilities!
Please pre-register
soonest for this event.

got our SIG Publication printed in time for the Conference! It arrived at Heather's
apartment at 8pm on the night before the Conference! The volume, a TESOL Arabia

related to the establishment of ILCs, and 4 case studies describing the work involved
in planning and implementing IL schemes and facilities. The third section is an

to Jigsaws to Organisation to Zones
Contributors to this volume are ILC
practitioners from Europe, the Middle East, Far East and Australasia.
